School writing competition 2023-2024
We have just launched 2023-2024 school writing competition – “Why I love my countryside and/ or coastline”
Thank you to all the school that have taken part across North Yorkshire over the years. The judges, trustees and members enjoyed reading the detailed stories and seeing the wonderful artwork from all the children.
Keep an eye on our website to see all the fantastic entries.
Well done to all the 2018-2019 , 2019-2020 , 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 Winners!!
CPRE North and East Yorkshire are inviting all Primary Schools in North and East Yorkshire to take part in our primary school’s writing competition 2023 – 2024.
Children would gain ideas for their entry by spending time in our beautiful North and East Yorkshire countryside and coastline during the Summer with their family. On their return to formal lessons, time would be spent as a class or via home-learning, creating their entry, before a collective submission is sent to us by the deadline of Friday 27th October 2023.
School should ensure all entries:
- are no more than one side of A4 (anything more than one page, will not be counted in the competition)
- contain the name, age and year group of the entrant CLEARLY on the BACK of the entry,
- entries can be email or posted to us.
Key Stage 1 can create a piece of art-work – drawn or painted (A4 sized) with descriptive labels annotating the drawing and / or a descriptive paragraph about their entry.
Key Stage 2 should submit no more than 500 words which should set out what they love about the North Yorkshire countryside during Summer and why it is special to them. Decoration is optional. Entries can be handwritten or typed to suit the school’s lesson which accompanies the task.
Entries should be collated as a ‘school bundle’ in the correct year categories and sent to the following address, no later than 27th October 2023: CPRE North and East Yorkshire, PO BOX 189, York, YO7 9BL
Prizes
There will be an individual prize for the winning student from each category (KS1 and KS2) and a prize of £250 for the winning school.
