A Story of Lasting Impact

Mrs. Serena Moore (née Denholm-Young) Mrs. Serena Moore’s extraordinary gift to CPRE North and East Yorkshire was inspired by her deep connection to the landscapes she loved. Growing up in Pickering, she spent her childhood exploring the Howardian Hills and the dramatic vistas of the North York Moors. Her passion for the countryside was matched by her desire to see it thrive for future generations.

Her generous legacy allowed us to:

  • Campaign successfully to protect areas of outstanding natural beauty from urban development.
  • Restore native hedgerows and habitats for endangered species, ensuring wildlife can flourish.
  • Support rural communities in developing sustainable farming practices.

We shall continue to work hard to ensure North and East Yorkshire’s landscape is protected. If only we could have thanked Mrs Serena Moore nee Denholm-Young in person.
