Are you ready to count the stars?

29th January 2020

CPRE’s Star Count 2020 is kicking off soon!

From 21-28 February 2020 we’re asking supporters to count the number of stars they can see (with the naked eye) within the constellation of Orion, which we’ll use to create a new map to show the nation’s views of the night sky, and raise awareness of the issue of light pollution.

And don’t worry, we’ll give lots of guidance so you know where to look! It’s a great, easy piece of stargazing – no telescopes required – for kids and adults.

Find out how to take part at: www.cpre.org.uk/starcount

NYMNP are hosting there Dark Skies festival from 14th February – 1 March 2020 with over 100 across the North Yorkshire Moors. Find out where all the festivals are at Dark Skies Festival Website.

It would be fantastic if you could all take part and encourage your friends and family to do the same, especially parts of North Yorkshire are some of  the UK’s ‘dark’ counties.  Please share your experiences and pictures with #StarCount2020.
