“We are delighted to note today’s decision by North Yorkshire Council to postpone tomorrow’s planning meeting at which they were due to decide on the Burniston ‘fracking ‘ application.

The Government will now assess the multiple letters requesting the Secretary of State ‘calls-in’ Europa’s proposal to determine the Minerals Planning application themselves and hopefully consider the local community’s powerful case for it to be thrown out.

We will continue to keep up the pressure for this proposal to be rejected, but today’s decision to allow greater government scrutiny of this issue is a victory for all those who have campaigned so hard to stop this potentially damaging development.”
