Statement from CPRENEY Chair, Burniston ‘fracking’ application

We are very disappointed to see that North Yorkshire Council is recommending approval of this highly controversial and potentially environmentally damaging planning application for land near Burniston. There have been over 1500 objections including a detailed response from the CPRENEY. Not enough is known of the process proposed for there to be confidence in its safety.

We urge NYC to fully take into account the concerns of local people and halt consideration of the application until further government advice clarifies the national position on fracking. We will continue to press for this application to be rejected
