Local residents seek funds to challenge Stell Solar Farm plans
Local residents in Bedale, Exelby and the surrounding villages are continuing their efforts to ensure that plans for a proposed 114-acre solar farm are thoroughly scrutinised.
North Yorkshire Council is currently considering the application of Stell Solar Farm, which is proposed on 114 acres of farmland, or around 64 football pitches. The proposal has raised questions about its potential impacts on the surrounding countryside, local roads and public rights of way.

The North Yorkshire Local Access Forum has raised concerns about the proposed highway changes, warning that they would “completely change the character” of the weight-restricted routes. The Say No To Stell Solar Farm action group, formed by local residents to oppose the plans, has been examining the proposals and gathering evidence.
The group is now seeking to raise funds to appoint a professional planning consultant to review the evidence gathered so far and prepare a focused objection to the application. The estimated cost of this initial work is around £5,000, and every contribution will help the group progress its work.
If you’d like to support the group’s efforts, you can find out more about the proposal and contribute through its GoFundMe page using the link below. A decision is expected before the end of this year.
